Abstract:
The rapid evolution of Financial Technology (FinTech) has significantly transformed loan processing in Indian private sector banks by integrating advanced digital technologies into conventional banking practices. Technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Big Data Analytics, Blockchain, Cloud Computing, Robotic Process Automation (RPA), Optical Character Recognition (OCR), Application Programming Interfaces (APIs), e-KYC, Video KYC, and the Account Aggregator (AA) framework have streamlined loan origination, customer verification, credit appraisal, underwriting, risk management, and loan disbursement. These innovations have reduced processing time, minimised operational costs, enhanced credit assessment accuracy, improved customer experience, and promoted financial inclusion by extending formal credit to underserved populations, including MSMEs, women entrepreneurs, rural borrowers, and first-time borrowers. Government initiatives such as Digital India, Aadhaar, Unified Payments Interface (UPI), Jan Dhan Yojana, and India Stack have further strengthened India's digital lending ecosystem. However, challenges relating to cybersecurity, data privacy, regulatory compliance, algorithmic bias, legacy banking infrastructure, and digital literacy continue to influence the sustainable adoption of FinTech. This study examines the role of FinTech in transforming loan processing in Indian private sector banks through a qualitative and exploratory analysis based on secondary data. The findings indicate that FinTech has become a strategic driver of banking innovation, operational efficiency, customer-centric lending, and inclusive financial development. The study concludes that strengthening regulatory frameworks, technological infrastructure, and digital governance will be essential for ensuring sustainable digital lending and achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
