Abstract:

Value education and cultural heritage are inseparable dimensions of holistic education, especially in culturally rich societies like India. In the era of globalisation, technological advancement, and rapid social change, there is a growing concern about moral degradation and weakening cultural identity among students. This research paper examines the conceptual framework of value education, explores the nature of cultural heritage, and analyses their interrelationship in the context of modern education. The study adopts a qualitative and descriptive research design based on secondary data collected from books, journals, policy documents, and reports. It highlights how cultural heritage serves as a living source of values such as respect, tolerance, cooperation, social responsibility, and national integration. The paper also discusses challenges in implementing value-based and culture-oriented education and proposes strategies for effective integration. The study concludes that value education rooted in cultural heritage is essential for character building, ethical development, and social harmony.
