Abstract
Healthcare systems represent one of the most critical infrastructures of any nation, as they directly influence the quality of life, productivity, and longevity of its population. A healthcare system encompasses all organizations, institutions, resources, and people whose primary purpose is to improve health outcomes. These systems include hospitals, clinics, diagnostic laboratories, pharmacies, emergency services, and administrative units that work collectively to deliver healthcare services. Traditionally, healthcare systems have operated through manual and semi-automated processes. Patients typically visit hospitals physically to register, consult doctors, and maintain medical records. While this model has been functional for decades, it suffers from significant inefficiencies. The manual handling of patient data often results in delays, errors, and mismanagement. Furthermore, the increasing population and rising demand for healthcare services have placed immense pressure on these traditional systems, leading to overcrowded facilities and reduced service quality. This Chapter emphasizes on how the inclusion of wearable devices has brought a revolution towards advancements in medical and digital healthcare.
