Traditional Indian Art Forms in The Modern Era
Author Name: Dr. Avneet Kaur;
Abstract
India boasts one of the richest artistic heritages globally, encompassing diverse forms such as painting, sculpture, textiles, folk art, and crafts that embody its cultural identity. These traditional Indian art forms have evolved over centuries, shaped by religion, regional customs, and historical events. In the modern era, factors like globalisation, technological advances, and changing lifestyles have transformed the creation, promotion, and appreciation of these arts. While modernisation presents challenges to traditional practices, it also offers new opportunities through digital platforms, contemporary reinterpretations, and global recognition. This paper explores the importance of traditional Indian art forms today, the obstacles they face, and the strategies employed for their preservation and promotion.
