Thomas Kuhn’s Theory - The Phases of Scientific Revolutions and It’s Educational Implications

Abstract

This paper examines Thomas Kuhn's 1962 book The Structure of Scientific Revolutions and its scientific progress theories. It looks at some of Kuhn's most important ideas, like the difference between normal and revolutionary science, the role of paradigms, and the four stages of a scientific revolution: pre-paradigm, normal science, crisis, and scientific revolution. The study shows how Kuhn's ideas have changed the philosophy of science, mainly the ideas of paradigm changes and incommensurability. Kuhn's theory changed how we think about scientific progress. It moved us away from linear cumulative models and toward a framework that takes into account both the historical and social aspects of science. The last part of this work talks about how important Kuhn's ideas were to scientific progress and the growth of philosophical debate.
