Abstract

This paper studies the effects of Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY) on the development of women-centred micro enterprises in India based on the secondary data obtained through the PMMY portal, Reserve Bank of India publications, as well as publications made by the Ministry of Finance regarding the years 2015-16 to 2024-25. Women-loan dissemination would be used as a measure of business expansion. The two charts used in the analysis include the Mann-Kendall trend test and the compound annual growth rate (CAGR) to analyse the credit trends. The results indicate that women-loan disbursement has a statistically significant change in the case of PMMY, whereby there is an improvement in access to formal credit. Still, challenges associated with subsequent use and sustainability of enterprises remain, which emphasises the necessity of additional interventions in the policy.
