Abstract:

The Public Distribution System (PDS) is a key social safety net program in India aimed at providing essential commodities like food grains to economically vulnerable sections of society at subsidized rates. Haryana, a state with significant agricultural output, also benefits from the PDS in its efforts to reduce poverty and food insecurity. This paper aims to assess the impact of the PDS scheme on its beneficiaries in Haryana, focusing on its effectiveness, accessibility, and outcomes in improving the well-being of the people. A combination of primary data (questionnaires) and secondary data sources is used to explore these dimensions.
