Abstract:

The COVID-19 pandemic significantly disrupted the education system worldwide, forcing a sudden shift from traditional in-class learning to digital platforms. This transition posed challenges, particularly in rural and underprivileged areas where access to technology is limited. This study presents a case of an innovative approach to e-learning using Quick Response (QR) codes implemented at a rural high school in Sovanagar, Malda district, West Bengal, India. It explores the development and application of QR-coded smart cards as a blended learning tool to overcome the barriers to digital learning. The results demonstrate that the use of QR codes in education facilitates easy access to digital content, enhances student engagement, and supports self-paced learning, even in areas with limited technological infrastructure. The findings suggest that QR codes could serve as an effective educational tool for bridging the digital divide and ensuring continuity of education in challenging contexts.
