Abstract:

Background: Traditional methods and patterns of financial accounting are no longer able to keep pace with the enormous challenges created by technology in the field of accounting, and therefore cloud accounting is the modern technological trend for future generations of accountants.

Aim: This study aims to demonstrate the most important characteristics of cloud accounting technology applications and their impact on enhancing the quality of financial statements by providing a useful view for companies on the most important models included in cloud accounting applications that must be taken into account when switching to cloud accounting applications in Iraq.

Setting: The study targets academic accountants and auditors as a population for the study, and a random sample of 52 academics was selected. SPSS software and a custom questionnaire were used.

Method: We conducted multiple linear regression analysis to examine the effect of cloud accounting model application characteristics and the financial statement quality variable

Results: Cloud accounting ensures the possibility of processing many complex operations through an integrated system, which reduces the volume of financial work, ensuring that companies improve their performance, reduce their costs, and make strategic decisions. However, at the same time, it is fraught with many problems and risks that may affect the quality and credibility of financial reports.

Conclusion: The study acknowledges the limitations in sample size and the need to consider additional factors that contribute to enhancing the quality of financial statements. More research is needed to understand the extent of limited adoption of cloud accounting applications in Iraq and the necessity of guiding companies to use them and trust the Internet. The study contributes valuable insights into the applications of cloud accounting features as an alternative to traditional financial accounting systems.

Contribution: This study emphasizes a topic of great importance to companies in light of the intense competition in local and global markets. The study seeks to explain and clarify the characteristics of applying cloud accounting models in Iraqi companies and their impact on enhancing the quality of financial data.
